The rules for writing resume end dates explained by an expert.
How do you approach writing end dates for your past jobs when building your resume? If you are no longer with a company, you need to put the date of when you left that company on your resume. Otherwise, the company you’re interviewing for could feel like you’re trying to mislead them about your current employment status.
That being said, it’s okay to only write the years when discussing when you worked for a company as long as the job was a while ago. When you start listing more recent positions, include both the year and month to paint a more accurate picture.
As always, call or email me if you have any questions about resume writing or something else. I look forward to hearing from you.
